"Will you walk into my parlor?" said the spider to the fly; "'Tis the prettiest little parlor that ever you may spy.
. . .
And now, dear little children, who may this story read, To idle, silly flattering words I pray you ne'er give heed; Unto an evil counselor close heart and ear and eye, And take a lesson from this tale of the spider and the fly.
. . . brings back memories from so many decades gone by . . .
Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you enjoyed the shot. Though it may have brought you some good memories, the whole time I was near the spider I was worried she would bite me!
I don't think that Miss Muffet will be visiting your site anytime soon, but the rest of us get to enjoy some great photography. Keep posting for your loyal fans and your loving Fiancé :)
After walking into webs, I always do the amusing "spider web dance" to try and brush all pieces of web (and spiders) off me. Very awful feeling, indeed.
I definitely knew to keep my distance with this gal. As lethal as she may be, I just HAD to take a few pictures. Beautiful and deadly. A very dangerous combination.
I love the red detail of the spider. If the web is also clearly visible, then the picture would be more dramatic. By the way, thanks for stopping by at my blog. Too bad I only want to show anything in B&W, though colorful tulips are also beautiful.
Thanks :) I’m flattered to receive such an honor. This category had many impressive photos to choose from.
Avan,
I was too nervous around this black widow to take many shots. I’m hoping to improve my spider pictures, but first I need to stop worrying that I’ll get bitten :)

Wow, impressive shot. Where was this taken? Hopefully not in your household ;)

The Fiancé,
I’d be scared too if I found that on my tuffet! In the meanwhile, I'd be happy to keep posting :)
L`artiste,
Thankfully the Black Widow was outside. However, I’m still pretty sure I would’ve reached for my camera even if she was indoors :)
looks menacing. how big was it?
Potty,
Her body alone was a bit over an inch long. Not that big, but scary enough for me to keep my distance.
Wicked!
Rock,
Actually, it was more like "oh my gosh I can't believe I almost walked into that thing's web!"
Am with you about not wanting to walk in the the web. I hate walking into webs. Such an azful feeling.
Lucky the occupants dont usually look like this!

Congratulations as a MacroDay favourite - I know I'm terrified of black widows!
