My nephew couldn’t keep his hands off his dad’s camera and even started crying when it was taken away. I guess photography runs in the family :)

Great to start 'em young! I always love the hands of small children and babies - small yet perfectly formed:-) - the contrast of the adult hand adjacent here works very well.

Too bad they got him started on a Nikon. Does The Nephew know Aunt Lady is a Canon girl? :)

Haha, what a cute little juxtaposition. Looks like you guys are getting him into the expensive stuff early :P. Better start saving for that 1Ds MkII or D2H that he'll be wanting soon.

He can't shoot from the hip all the time, you've got to get his eye up to the viewfinder if you expect him to make a living as a shooter :)

Lovely shot. Well conceived and well executed idea.

Bravo! Your even starting him on Nikon, great taste in camera gear. I hope to pass my love of photography on to my kids one day.

Wow... mighty brave. I just get disposable film cameras for my daughter... but then, she breaks something and/or hurts herself just about every time she walks across the room...

He is born photographer. Did he take some shot? Is that a Nikon D70s?

Thank you to everyone who commented on this photo :) I love the composition of my nephew’s hand next to his father’s, but truth be told, this wasn’t a planned shot.

My brother was setting the timer on his camera for a family photo when his son, who was in his arms, immediately reached out and started clicking away. The moment was so precious that I had to grab my camera and start shooting as well. Seeing as how this was all spur of the moment, my settings were off and the picture is slightly blurred. Despite all that, I’m glad I was able to capture this event.

The original photo shows my nephew in his father’s arms, smiling as he takes picture after picture. I opted to crop this shot to respect their wishes of not having their photo published on the internet, as well as to showcase the bond between father and son.

Once my brother took his son away from the camera, my nephew immediately started crying, only stopping once he was allowed to shoot again. Photography may very well be my family’s legacy, as many of us are die hard shutterbugs. We’re not sure what my nephew’s future may hold. We’re still waiting for him to grow teeth :)

Another thank you to those who commented. Your kind words are always appreciated :)
This was definitely one of those "right place, right time" kind of moments. It's hard to believe that someday my nephew may be using a camera without his father’s guiding hands.

Yungyaw,

My nephew was using a Nikon D70. He took several photos while playing with the camera, though I didn’t get the chance to see any of the shots. I should ask my brother if any of them turned out okay.

Payam,

Me too! However, I was lucky enough to have a great father who let me snap away with film cameras. I can’t imagine how much he must have spent developing all the pictures I took of our pets.

Derrick,

Who knows? My nephew may become such a great photographer that his photos pay for his college expenses :)
